What should I pack before leaving the farm?

Exploration fails at the farm gate more often than at the boss. Finish the morning farming loop, then pack.

  • Do01Cooked meals for stamina and health (see cooking)
  • Do02Empty bag slots — scrap runs die when inventory is full
  • Do03Drone repaired with modules matched to the zone
  • Do04One-use sleeping bag or known outpost bed
  • Do05Copper (or better) tools if the route needs ore
  • Do06Weather check — do not leave uncovered crops before acid rain
  • Do07Marked mental return path / climb route home

Food is a map tool

Raw foraging will not carry Old City. Kitchen buffs are part of the exploration kit, not a role-play extra.

Combat settings while learning

Bullet-hell density can be lowered while you learn dodge patterns, then raised for ruin loot. Details on modules live on drones.

Which regions should I unlock first?

Treat this as a suggested order, not a softlock wall — quests can rearrange beats.

OrderRegionWhy go
1Town outskirts / farm wildsScrap, rubbish, tutorial combat
2River ValleyOre, vines for seed research, calmer foes
3WetlandsNew resources and fish-adjacent routes
4CavesDarkness — bring lighting modules
5Old City Ruins (1.0)Story, elites, industrial loot

Tools gate maps

Copper tools matter for valley mining. Push tool tiers before forcing deeper maps with starter picks.

What is the River Valley good for?

The valley is the first real “leave the tutorial biome” space — ore nodes, vines for seed research, and enemies your pickaxe or early drone can handle.

Neutral mechanical foes

Some drones ignore you until provoked. Path around them when overloaded with scrap.

How do I prepare for Old City Ruins?

Old City Ruins is a 1.0 highlight: industrial and residential districts, new enemies, NPCs, and story weight. Treat it like a raid prep checklist, not a casual scrap stroll.

Do not skip valley gear

Players who jump to ruins with starter modules bounce. Earn copper tiers, auto-fire comfort, and cooked buffs first.

Traffic and traversal

Public notes mention elevated roads, generators, and movement quirks. Slow down at intersections — greed sprinting drops runs.

How do I avoid getting stranded at night?

The world can strand scavengers after dark. Mark routes, pack sleep items, and respect stamina.

Turnaround time

Set a clock: when bag is 70% full or stamina hits half, start home. Extra chests are not worth a wipe.

Outposts multiply range

Sleeping bags and discovered beds convert one long death march into chained safe legs.

Coal, scrap, and return-route checklist

Resource routes exist to feed the farm — not to fill screenshots.

  • Do01Identify today’s target: coal, scrap, ore, or story flag
  • Do02Clear a path you can reverse while overloaded
  • Do03Fight only what blocks the route — skip optional aggro
  • Do04Dump to farm chests before another loop
  • Do05Repair drone and restock food before the second sortie
  • Do06If acid rain is due, abort early and cover crops

Coal searches are common

“How to get coal” is a high-intent question — check furnaces, scrap chains, and valley nodes in your build rather than assuming one fixed POI forever.

What changes in Wetlands and Caves?

After the valley feels comfortable, Wetlands and Caves add traversal and lighting checks more than raw story weight.

RegionNew pressurePack for it
WetlandsWatery routes, new forage/fish adjacencyExtra food + patience on jumps
CavesDarkness and tighter fightsLighting modules + heals
Return pathsEasy to mis-climb when overloadedTurn around earlier than valley

Do not treat every biome as Old City practice

Caves teach lights. Wetlands teach pathing. Old City teaches endurance. Skipping the middle biomes to “save time” usually costs more repair kits.

Fish and forage on the way

Exploration routes double as fishing banks. Grab kitchen ingredients on the return leg when bag space allows.

FAQ

What maps exist in Doloc Town?

How do I avoid night softlocks?

Pack sleeping bags, learn outposts, and set a turnaround rule before stamina collapses.
